Service Development | Learning and Development

As a learning organisation Neami supports the ongoing practice and professional development of its staff through the provision of a comprehensive internal training program and access to external training courses.

Neami currently has a dedicated Learning and Development Team of professional trainers who are responsible for the delivery of our internal training program:

  • Six day induction
  • Recovery Oriented Practice Model called the Collaborative Recovery Model (CRM)
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Group facilitation Skills

Neami provides the following specialist training to all staff through various state providers:

  • Child Safe Environments (SA only)
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
  • Senior First Aid (PARC and Assertive Outreach staff only)

Neami provides the following professional development opportunities to our management staff:

  • Leadership Development Program
  • Critical Incident Diffusion Training
  • Supervision Skills Training

Neami provides the following professional development opportunities through apprenticeship programs to all eligible staff:

  • Certificate 4 Mental Health Non Clinical
  • Neami will also provide staff with access to the additional following specialist training when it is identified to enhance consumer outcomes:
  • Hearing Voices
  • CALD/ATSI
  • Advocacy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Tobacco Cessation
  • Personality Disorders
  • Self Harm
  • Autism
  • Challenging Behaviours

Neami is committed to supporting our staff to continue their education and professional development by providing access to paid study leave to eligible staff enrolled in Diploma or Degree studies
