Intake

The studio is funded to provide 55 places. If you are interested in the studio please contact us and we will help you to register. At the moment a waiting period applies and this can vary depending on your priority status.

Services

Splash is a specialist service working exclusively through the visual arts towards psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery. We aim to promote a culture that fosters participation, cultural awareness and democracy. At a structural level, we aim to promote access across the arts community, and, ultimately to promote alternative and positive images of mental health within the community.

Splash runs regular workshops in painting, drawing, print making, mosaic, sculpture and art forums. The Studio also facilitates a range of community arts projects, exhibitions and other activities.

Splash has a Koori Arts Program that runs in conjunction with the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service. Splash and VAHS have collaborated to establish a model of arts based support and rehabilitation for consumers who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders and who are experiencing mental health issues. It is essential to emphasis that the success of the Koori Art Program me to date is because of the collaborative service partnership.

The vast majority of consumers who are Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) at Splash are referred to the program via VAHS. In most instances, this is a facilitated referral, where VAHS workers initially accompany the consumer and assist them to settle into Splash. Where necessary, VAHS workers have provided continued support and/or transport. Workers from Splash and VAHS have strong working relationships. When working with cultural issues we always seek advice from the Health Service and any issues the Mural at St. Vincent's Hospital.
