Neami supported housing provides safe, secure and affordable long-term housing coupled with support to people who experience mental illness across the Municipalities of Banyule, Darebin, Nillumbik and Whittlesea in Victoria, Wollongong, Sutherland, St George, Liverpool, Fairfield, Cambelltown and Bankstown in New South Wales and Port Adelaide in South Australia. There are currently 73 properties in Victoria, 37 in New South Wales and 6 in South Australia with the tenancy management provided by a range of Community Housing Providers and the South Australian Housing Trust who collect rent, conduct the maintenance and hold the leases on the properties. Tenants have the same rights and responsibilities as any person who is renting a house. The houses are fully furnished by Neami however tenants are encouraged where possible to purchase their own furniture and electrical goods so that in the event that they wish to move on, they have the basic requirements to set up their own houses. Individual support is provided to tenants by Neami Community Rehabilitation and Support Workers who emphasise choice, skill development and community connectedness.
